Spring Flowers

The daffodils are coming out and bunches are for sale at roadside stalls so I have had an abundant supply!! I have a large bowl of bulbs in the garden away from the slugs and snails which I tend carefully every year – well I water it occasionly – and that is full of crocii. So with such a beautiful day on Sunday I took the camera outside for its spring outing!! I then cut one flower for the studio……

Trying to be efficient and sorting out new pictures for an upcoming exhibition (details to follow) I have just uploaded new images to my RPS portfolio (http://www.rps.org) so here is a taster of the new World within World series. Redwoods, US Towns and Elk!

Another trip to the Redwoods, this time with time and a tripod as it is dark in there! Also a few of a town we stay in. Also, on a trip to see friends in the outback we came around a corner (already reduced to a few MPH because of road conditions) and there were a few Elk, then more and more so we kept quiet and still as the bull has big antlers and would think nothing of attacking the odd car…

Plus one taken at night – there is no light pollution (no mains power for miles so no street lights) at all apart from the lights from the house so millions of stars and the Milky Way are visible!

Is Photography Art?

With an exhibition coming up I had been thinking about what I produced. Yes, some great macro flowers in the studio; yes, some pretty good land/water scapes; but what was my USP? I have been working with a film maker combining film and images, so thought I why not combine images? So with some experimenting here are the first four. Look carefully as at first sight most people miss some of the content; a clue is in the title! Also, the thumbnails cut off some of the image so click on the image and then again!!

Hightide and Sunrise on the Tamar

A very early start and early mist flowing down the Tamar. A friend said how about just catching the spring tide for an hour or two. So off we went (not been up that early for ages!), nearly wet feet getting to the dingy, but fantastic light and drifting mist. The tide dropped several feet before we returned for a splendid breakfast!! lots more at www.flickr.com/photos/reflexrover/sets/72157627421331509/

The Sun has got his hat on ………….

Given the weather, most of my work recently has been in the studio, but, today the sun has come out and I went out into the garden! I did take a white geranium to the studio! Most were taken in early afternoon light and are a bit flat but the strength of the light was just so wonderful!!

Here we are again!

Well what has happened since the last post? Lots, including the shrinking of the day! Some new photos, we grew a yellow Arum Lily and I managed to get a fine evening on my partners allotment where as well as great vegetables there are flowers, wild and cultivated! As normall there are more at Flickr and there will be some for sale on my sales site
